My People...

…are immigrants and children of immigrants. They have fled to other countries for survival, have erased our own cultures for survival. My people live between cultures, never belonging to one. They continue on with optimism for a better future as we find and re-find ourselves forward from the past.

My people defy categories; are often misfits. There are ways we have been hurt and ways that we have been healing, but we belong when we are together and our ways of being are affirmed.

My people have been unjustly incarcerated. They know what it is like to support a loved one in prison, and are not blind to the ways our societies’ systems are broken. My people fight to be free

My people connect through a love of shared food experiences. They are thoughtful, caring, and giving to each other and to community well-being. They are changemakers and change-seekers who have the optimism to believe in a better future. They hold imagination to collectively build towards a loving future we want to be.
